if you haven't heard inventions for electric guitar (1975) by manuel göttsching before, you should probably go listen to it. he apparently recorded it in his kitchen because the reverb there was better. (he unplugged the refrigerator)

echowaves, the first track on the album, is just göttsching doubletracking interlocking sequences along with delay for a textural wash. i toyed with the idea (largely the doubletracking and delay aspect more than the strict counterpoint aspect) to see what ended up happening. quite like the result, though I think if I were going to use it in a track I would a) actually attempt contrapuntal textures and b) not turn the dotted eighth delay send to 100%. pretty sure I slapped reverb on there too, though I tried to be tasteful. I think.
